Altenew | October 2019 Stencil/Washi Tape/Die Cut Tape Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey friends! Guess what? Altenew has a totally new and totally awesome release of stencils, washi tapes, and die cut tapes. And I'm in love.

I used the new Bouquet Die Cut Tape along with the Linear Stencil on a layout and I had so much fun creating it.

The tape has a slick, vinyl-like surface, so I thought it would be fun to try coloring it with alcohol inks. Altenew sells alcohol based Artist Markers, which I don't have, but I used the re-inkers to create some gorgeous colors on the die cut tape.

I used my inked tape as a border on my layout and embellished with bits and pieces from the Live Your Dream collection and stuff I had in my stash.

The clear floral stickers happened to match perfectly. I adhered them to some cardstock so they would pop.

I added some stenciling behind my photo and on two edges of the paper. My title was die cut from white cardstock using the Bold Alphabet Die Set. I also die cut the letters from fun foam in blue and layered it behind the cardstock. I love this look!

AE Digital Projects | Project Life Week 04

Hey friends! As promised, I'm back with another way I used the Ali Edwards February 2017 Digital Kit in my memory keeping this month.  I am still keeping up with my Project Life® 6x8 album and included elements from the digital kit on two of my cards for my Week 04 spread.

This week was Malia's birthday, so most of the cards actually have to do with activities related to celebrating her. I included a little paper bag (which was a favor from her party) that I decorated with some awesome stamps from Kelly Purkey.

On the back of the bag I added some journaling, a chipboard piece (from the Surprise Story Kit™) and some transparent numbers (from the Numbers Story Kit™).

Because I'm working with very few pockets, I'm finding that I like to include the photo + story on a single card quite often. This card is from the February Digital Kit and I added my photo and journaling in Photoshop before I printed it.

Another thing I'm loving is the mix of handwriting + printed words. I added the word "Loving" from the digital stamps to my photo before printing, then used my white gelly roll pen to add a bit more. This simple card is probably my fave from the week.

AE Digital Projects | February 2017 Digital Kit

If you haven't seen already, Ali Edwards is releasing a fabulous new digital only kit each month this year. February's kit has kind of a lovey theme and I decided to write a little love letter to myself a la Brandi Kincaid. I really think that we all need to recognize the value in ourselves and I thought Valentine's Day would be a good day to start.

I used a practically life-size selfie (8x12), which made me literally laugh out loud after I pulled it from my printer. But I went with it, because hey, I love me, right? Haha.

I started each paragraph of the letter with a different self-affirming phrase - You are amazing. You are beautiful. You are strong. You are enough. You are loved. I think that's a great way to do journaling on a page about yourself. It gives you somewhere to start.

I used the print-and-cut feature of my Silhouette Cameo + elements from Ali's digital kit to create my title. I also added some hand-lettering on vellum and cut it out. Super easy way to make your handwriting look like a printed die cut!

I walk you through my whole hybrid process in the video below. I hope that you'll write yourself a love letter. We all need a little bit of that.

Old Meets New Stash Kit: Love Birds

Hey there! I'm back with another layout using the Stash Kit I created in October. This layout is very similar in feel and color scheme to a few other layouts I've created with this kit, but it's a look that I love, so I'm okay with that.

Recently, we cleaned out my parents place and I found a bunch of old photos. I've been having fun scrapbooking them and pulled a few from me and my husband's dating life for this layout.

I wanted to create a layout that reflected back on the things I didn't realize then, but do now. I decided on the title "La La Love Birds" because I thought it would tie in the birds that I love so much from the gorgeous Maggie Holmes paper.

I really don't have a ton of patterned paper left and decided to use some smaller strips on the left of the layout and anchor the photos to it. That is a definite go-to for me. I created clusters of embellishment in the top right and the bottom left, creating a diagonal design, and added a bird, a flower, some tassels, word strips, and leaves to each for repetition.

I added some journaling strips to the bottom, some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine (because why not?!) and called it done. You can watch the process video below to see how it all came together.
