Altenew November 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey friends! Guess what? Altenew has another fabulous release and I have a few projects to share with you using a bunch of gorgeous new products!

First up is this layout of my cute girl all dressed up for her role in "Into the Woods". The new Poppy Garden Stamp Set was perfect and I painted the flowers to match her hair accessories.

I included some butterflies from the new Mariposa Mix & Match Die Set. I cut them in white and vellum so they didn't take away from the flowers, but still added to the whimsy.

I can't seem to stop using the Bold Alpha Die Set for my titles, and I'm not mad at it! I cut it from some wood paper I had in my stash. Fun, right?

Next, I created a layout focusing on the new Stone Mosaic Stamp Set.

By using soft colors, it looks less like stone and more like confetti, which worked out perfectly for this baby story.

I created my title with the Bold Alpha - again - but I also included the brand new Handwritten Hello Die. I just love how delicate it is!

I also threw in the moon stamp and phrase from the new Mini Moon stamp set. I think it works perfectly for a baby layout! I recorded my process for this layout and you can watch it below.

Last, but not least, I created a card using the Stone Mosaic stamp set. This time I made it look more like stone.

I used a portion of one of the sentiment stamps + those handy Bold Alpha Dies to create a custom tile and I think it's such a great masculine card.

To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by 11/13/2019 for a chance to win.

Altenew August 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey friends! I have a gorgeous new Altenew release to share with you today and I've created a layout and a card using some of the new stamps and dies!

I worked with the Dot Art Stamp Set and the Pleasant Pansy 3D Die and I absolutely LOVE them!

First, I created a layout of a recent little day trip my daughter and I took to Payson Lakes. The gorgeous floral dies and the fun dotted leaves from the Dot Art Stamp Set were perfect for these photos.

I started by creating some purple/pink pansies with some cardstock. I also cut some leaves from vellum. I wanted to keep them soft because I knew I was going to stamp the dot art leaves on the background of the layout.

I created a row of photos and added some florals to the top right and the bottom left of the row.

I used the Block Alpha Stamp Set for my title and added a few Butterfly Acetate Die Cuts for some whimsy.

I'm really happy with how this came together! I had a few pansies left over after I made the layout so I created a super quick card.

I added some Sea Breeze blue ink in the center of my card, popped up my flower, added some leaves and a sentiment and I was nearly done!

To finish it, I added some matching tangled thread, a few iridescent sequins and created a striped border using a stamp from the Dot Art Stamp Set. Easy, peasy!

I filmed a process video for both of these and accidentally deleted them (argh!!), but I did film a more detailed layout and card share video where I talk all about how I created these projects.

Collection Disconnection//Fancy Free #5 - Sleepover

Hey friends! I'm back with another layout in my Collection Disconnection series using the Paige Evans + Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection. This one looks very different from the others right away because I used such a bright patterned paper background rather than my usual white. :)

This layout started with some hand-stitched hearts. I chose a few colors that I knew were found in the collection and poked my holes by tracing some heart die cuts as well as some of my cut files (this one and this one). You could definitely freehand something as simple as hearts, though.

There ended up being six hearts in six colors to go along with my six small (I printed at 2x3) photos. Then I simply embellished by color.

I stuck red with red, blue with blue, yellow with yellow...you get the idea.

This is such a great way to use all of those pretty stickers and die cuts without worrying too much about how well the particular shape or icon goes with the theme of your layout. If you want more fun ideas + tips on great ways to use your die cuts, you should definitely check out me and Irit Landgraf's class, Die Cut Diversity!

I added captions below each photo and I like this way of telling the story of a whole day (and night) on one layout. If you want to see how it all came together, watch the process video here or over on my YouTube channel.

Inspiration is Everywhere: Mood Boards

I'm excited to announce a new series on my blog and YouTube channel. Where do you glean inspiration for your scrapbooking layouts? Perhaps it's your photos. Maybe you browse other people's layouts on Pinterest or in online galleries. Maybe your product inspires you.

In this series I want to show you how you can find inspiration from sources that might be a little bit harder to interpret. I'll share a new way each week over the course of the next five weeks, starting with mood boards.

Source: Decocrush

Mood boards come in various forms, some very structured and some very free form. In the video below, I'll show you several mood boards and give you ideas on how to translate them in your scrapbooking. I'll also show you how I interpreted the photo above into a layout of my own.

Here is what the finished layout looks like. I used the colors, the photo style, the textures, and the patterns from the mood board on my layout.

I also incorporated a 6 x 12 project life page protector (Design H, if you're wondering) to hold extra photos and story.

I hope that you'll give mood boards a try when you are creating your next layout. Need one to get you started? Use the one I used today, or check out my Inspiration Pinterest board!
