Inspiration is Everywhere: Fashion + Giveaway!

Today I'm sharing the last installment of my Inspiration is Everywhere series. This time, I'm taking inspiration from fashion.

I headed straight to Pinterest, and typed "Spring 2016 Fashion Trends" in the search bar. Lots of fabulous things popped up and I pinned several to my Inspiration board. What did I notice? Large florals on cream or white paired with soft colors like corals and pinks, stripes (but not necessarily with the florals), cut-outs, and pops of green. Gold is still totally trendy too.

Check out the video below to see examples and a process video for the layout I created after perusing the latest fashions.

And here's the layout:

I think this is a good example of how I took elements from fashion and made them apply to scrapbooking. Let me show you what I mean...

I used gold. I always use gold anyway, though. ;)

I used large florals and cut-outs, which also happened to be florals.

I used corals and pops of green. I also backed the entire layout on a striped paper and I really think it brought everything together. I feel like this was a rather loose interpretation, but it got me thinking a bit differently and sometimes all you need is something to get you started.

Have you tried using currents fashion trends as your muse? I encourage you to try it!

To wrap up this series, I'm having a giveaway for a $20 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com! Just leave a comment below (or comment on the video) telling me which episode of Inspiration is Everywhere inspired YOU. You have until midnight on April 12, 2016 to enter. Good luck! I wish you could all win. :) I'll announce the winner next Wednesday and do a little recap of the series.

  12. The Story Walk is definitely my favorite of all of them. I like how it inspired both your story and how you designed the page. I do like the magazine inspiration as well, but that is something I would already do on occasion - the story walk concept just blew me away! Thanks for the chance to win, I appreciate all that you do!

  13. I'm having a really hard time deciding which video was my favorite! I just finished this one, and I just want to run down to my craft room and scraplift you. I love the way you took the lace/fabric cutouts and translated those into intricate cut files... I also really liked the walk you took to the cemetery-- your heartfelt sharing, and how the subject of your walk became the subject of your layout, but also how some unexpected textures became the artistic inspiration for that layout.

  14. Thank you so much for all you do, Jen! I absolutely love your videos! This series was so helpful! I loved seeing the step by step approach, starting from where to look for inspiration to how to translate it all to our pages. I agree with so many others, the story walk was wonderful and was probably my favorite. I also liked the magazine and newspaper ideas too.
    Thanks Jen! You're amazing!
