It's tradition...

This past weekend we celebrated our Independence day here in the U.S. of A. For me, the 4th of July is always filled with family BBQ's, swimming, and of course, fireworks! I love these traditions and it got me thinking about how these annual celebrations produce some of our favorite memories, but take up so little space in my scrapbook albums.

Today I'm sharing not an Independence Day layout (that will come), but a Memorial Day memory. Specifically, I wanted to document our yearly traditions. I have a tendency to scrapbook the little moments on these days because I live for details. BUT, I do think it's important to document the broader story.

I used my Felicity Jane kits and I'm absolutely obsessed with that ombre background paper. I cut out some hearts from a sheet of vellum using my Silhouette. I think it looks magical laid over that paper!

I colored a few wood veneer shapes using my Metallic Melon gelatos and topped the layout off by adding some of my favorite gold Color Shine.

You can see how the layout came together here:
