Inspiration is Everywhere: Fine Art

Hello! Today's layout was inspired by fine art. I find art endlessly fascinating. I recently went to a local museum and found myself noticing bits and pieces from the paintings and art installations that I could translate into scrapbook layouts.

I'll talk you through a bunch of different sources of artsy inspiration in the video below, as well as create a layout based on what I found.

I decided to focus on art pieces like these from Australian Artist Lisa Madigan. Holy wow, she's inspiring.

I also thought about how lots of paintings are surrounded by huge, gold, gilded frames, like these:

So here's the layout I came up with.

I even kept my embellishments a little artsy by using Wilna Furstenberg's new Spring print and cut files. Gorgeous.

I used acrylic paint to get a lot of texture and I think it turned out so pretty. Definitely a technique I want to try again.

The frame was created by adding gold DecoFoil to cardstock, running it through my Sizzix Big Shot with a swiss dot embossing folder, then adding a bit of black india ink to antique it. I think it turned out super cool. Again, another technique I want to try.

I don't know that I would have discovered these things without using art as a jumping off point. And I think that's cool. I always want to be discovering new things.

Have you used an art piece to inspire a layout? I'd love for you to share it with me. If not, consider it! It's very fun and kind of freeing.

All available products are linked below, and I'll be back next week with the final installation of my Inspiration is Everywhere series.
